I'm all in a tiz today after my auntie, Betty the Bike, gave me some scary news when I popped into her workshop last night.
It appears that the University of Central England want the Speedway to be stopped and are calling on the council to bring the axe down on our beautiful sport.
It appears the poor students are scared of the sounds of the loud bikes, ahh diddums.
Alright Barry.
Alright Dave, how am ya?
Ahh fair to middlin
I ay seen ya for bit, you been up to much?
Ahh a bit of this and that and going here and there.
Last time I saw yam you had hair and tosh
Ahh the sands of time ay been kind kidda then again yam didn't have a spare tyre round ya waist.
AS they say in luvvie land it will be alright on the night but the Brummies first bow on national television was almost a washout.
I suppose it was lucky no-one did break a leg.
The whispers were it would have been called off if Sky was not ready to beam Birmingham into warm homes across Britain.
The first bit of Sky stardust I noticed Murdock's men had sprinkled on Perry Barr were the four dolly birds standing on the start line before each race. The in-house camera man had also obviously been taken with the girls' spandex shorts as he repeatedly zoomed in on their rain soaked rear ends.
I MET a woman once. No, I really did, it can happen. And I fell in love with her I heard it's good for the soul.
During an intimate moment I asked her "Do you like speedway?"
And blow me down she replied: "Speedway? I love speedway."
So I'm thinking 'Get in this could be The One'. Then she said: "I used to be a Cradley Heathen!"
Typical you find the woman of your dreams and she is a Cradley Heathen!
ON Wednesday night I walked in Elvis Presley's shoes.
I felt the gnawing pain that he felt after mistreating poor Priscilla so badly she ran off with a karate instructor.
I understood the guilt he summoned from his heart to encapsulate his guilt into his performance of You Were Always on My Mind.
Yep, you've guessed it guys and girls I missed speedway for the first time.
AS the sun set over Perry Barr it was Red Sky at night but it certainly wasn't Skidder's delight as the Brummies lost their unbeaten home record.
If I had a cat I would have kicked it, if I had a girlfriend I'd have been moody with her and if I had a dinner I wouldn't have touched it because last night all I tasted was defeat.
The Brummies didn't just lose to Rye House Rockets they were battered from pillar to finishing post as time and time again the Rockets romped home winning 12 of the 15 races.
"NOW that the spring is in the air, Pretty girls are everywhere, When you see them I'll be there,
We had joy, we had fun, we had speedway in the sun."
Last night the Brummies won in the sun during an incident packed night that included engine blow outs, crashes and daring riding.
The Workington Comets came to town and despite going behind early rallied back to take the result to the last race.
And as the sun set on Perry Barr the Aussie with thunder in his wrist, Jason 'The Lyon King' Lyons, clinched a memorable victory to secure points.
DANISH speedster Ulrich Ostergaard brought home the bacon on Saturday night as the Brummies continued their unbeaten start of the season.
The fledgling team did the double over the Stoke Potters on Saturday night after thrashing them last Wednesday.
But on Saturday it was a close run thing with the meeting going down to the last race when the Great Dane won in style to give the Brummies a 46-44 win.
ALL together now in a karaoke style! "In the jungle, the concrete jungle, the Lyon roared last night".
Under the glare of floodlights a new hero made his mark at the Perry Barr home of the Brummies.
Jason Lyons was in inspirational form last night as he bagged 15 points helped the Brummies to a maiden victory in the Premier Trophy against Stoke.
TONIGHT'S the night when the fires that burn in Birmingham speedway fans' hearts will be well and truly stoked as the Brummies face their first Premier Trophy challenge.
The team face the Stoke Potters in front of their own fans in Perry Barr for the curtain raiser on a season that ends in October.
The competition has three groups of five teams with winners and best performing runners-up going through to the semi-finals.
THE attendance at last week's meeting showed that the Brummies are well and truly back.
And tomorrow, as well as carrying a full report of tonight's clash against Stoke, the Mail will be giving you the chance to win VIP tickets.
Don't miss it!
WELCOME to Skidder's Corner, a sideways look at Speedway in the Second City!
As you might have read or heard (if you live anywhere near the stadium) legendary speedway team the Brummies are back in town.
And until October the unmistakable roar of 500cc engines will be keeping children up and making dogs howl in Perry Barr most Wednesday nights.
