THERE will be a great deal of sympathy for Lesley Wallace, the Birmingham grandmother so frustrated by the service her street receives from the city's binmen that she took drastic action.
Lesley bagged up the rubbish that had been spilled or ignored by the collection team in Yew Tree Avenue, Yardley, jumped on a bus to the city centre and then emptied it defiantly on the Council House doorstep.
Her protest will strike a chord with all those Brummies who are infuriated every time they look out of their windows and see rubbish strewn in the street after the binmen have called.
Even more so since Lesley says that her previous complaints to the council have failed to get any response.
Brum's binmen do a hard, dirty and largely good job.
But sometimes standards slip and it is unacceptable that the authority fails to respond when council tax-payers phone them.
Lesley has struck a blow for us all by dishing the dirt on the council.
