Return of the Mac

Painful thing the end of a relationship.
When a partner says, ‘right, that’s it, give me my Chris De Burgh CD’s back, I’ve found someone more attractive.’
Can leave a broken and forlorn heart blubbing into his/her pillow and wondering just how he/she will get through the night.
O-k then, that might be over-egging the pudding somewhat.
But so it was that winger Michael McIndoe was allowed to leave Wolves in the summer for Championship newcomers Bristol City.
McIndoe felt City were a better option, that they would produce more attractive football, play to his strengths.
And he probably wanted sole control of the Chris De Burgh CD's.
Meanwhile Mick McCarthy, certainly never one to be blubbing into his pillow, simply made sure Wolves got a decent price for a self-labelled ‘footballing gypsy’ who only stayed at Molineux for nine months and was then happy to send him on his way.
Of course the explanation wasn’t that simple, it never is.

It is understood McIndoe felt aggrieved he hadn’t been offered a new contract in the way that Michael Kightly had been.
McIndoe’s colourful reaction to being substituted in the play-off semi final against Albion - even though you wouldn’t expect him to be turning cartwheels to be withdrawn with Wolves chasing the game – certainly didn’t help.
But more detail to those explanations are, perhaps quite rightly, remaining behind closed doors from both parties in the build-up to McIndoe’s return to Molineux on Saturday.
McIndoe has simply reaffirmed the belief made the right move in jumping ship in a deal he believes was good for all parties.
McCarthy has responded in kind, thanking McIndoe for his contribution in turning round Wolves’ season and helping propel them to the brink of the Premiership.
So with the ‘law of the ex’, the common and garden occurrence of former loves coming back to haunt, just what will McIndoe’s contribution be come 3pm on Saturday?
He’ll very likely get the bird from the Molineux faithful who were none too happy at his quotes upon leaving.
He may even be on the end of one or two tasty challenges from a group of former team-mates who may also be bristling at the nature of his parting shot, probably not fully digested until after McIndoe had returned to Wolves’ training ground to say his goodbyes.
But that would probably only inspire a sometimes volatile character who nevertheless from a press point of view, always had something interesting to say and was always a pleasure to deal with.
And let’s face it, he wasn’t a bad left winger either.
Maybe, with McIndoe impressing and Bristol City among the early season pace-setters and Wolves not far behind them, it has indeed been a good move for all parties.
In which case, a more positive greeting for the former Wolf might just help McCarthy and co in not firing him up to deliver what could be a far greater Wolves heartbreak – a retreat down the M5 with three points for the Robins come Saturday evening.

Could come back to haunt us I reckon, though McIndoe did have the habit of bottling challenges which annoyed me, so I wasn;t that bothered when he went.

Have a lot of faith in MM, some may say misplaced faith, but he's got the team well drilled and other than the blip at Ipswich we have been getting better throughout the season so far from my view.

In the end of season shake up, I don't expect Bristol City to be there really. What they are doing at the moment is guaranteeing a place at the Championship table next season, a few injuries over Christmas will soon see them tumbling down the table I'm sure, though this will be no consolation if they take points off us on Saturday!!!

Soup-a Soup-a Mick, Soup-a Soup-a Mick!!!!

Danny Mills:

I didn't mind McIndoe, up until his ridiculous comments when he left.
All that nonsense about not seeing enough of the ball etc.
I'd have had more respect for the bloke if he'd just come out with the truth.
He may get a bad reception tomorrow - just hope it doesn't fire him up.
