By 'eck, it's Big 'Eck!

Bit of a whirlwind, Alex McLeish says. Not half.
Straight off the plane from South Africa, into David Sullivan's lair, up to Wast Hills and then announced at St Andrew's the next day.
Now it's his first game, away at Spurs on Sunday, for the Big 'Eck Era to launch.

Even in such a short space of time (once over the jet lag), McLeish impressed all he has come across with his manner.
He has a sense of meaning business and you can tell it wouldn't be wise to take liberties with him.
Not that Blues new manager is a sargeant major, dictator type.
I'm told he is a very clever man-manager who gains respect and trust from his players.
He is by all accounts shrewd tactically and has a depth of knowledge about players all over the world.
Meeting him, he exudes self-confidence but not arrogance and beneath that granite exterior portrayed when you see him on television, he apparently has a nifty, dry sense of humour.
One thing struck me was that he never seemed ruffled but always in control when he
dealt with the press attention and his new environment this week. Despite it all being a
whirlwind.
He's got passion, and he demands his team plays with passion, but keeping a cool, clear
head as well is a good trait to have when you are bracing yourself for a relegation scrap.
I've got a gut feeling that McLeish is going to be good for Blues, another right kind of right fit after almost six years of Steve Bruce.
As I pointed out in my previous blog, Eric Black could have done himself a big favour had
Blues performance against Portsmouth been up to scratch.
It wasn't, so that's what tipped the job in McLeish's favour.
He was always high on the list of candidates, the former Aberdeen stalwart.
But Blues weren't that sure they could get him. Scotland were prepared to fight.
But once Blues have made their mind up and get their tentacles into you in such situations, usually they win out.
McLeish walked, Scotland fumed and all of a sudden there is the first sign of optimism around St Andrew's for a few weeks.
One final thought, does this mean Blues are bigger than Scotland?
