They think it's all over

I couldn't help but giggle at the hilarious antics over at radio WM the other night when Daz Hale turned Stoke City fan Nick Hancock into a right numpty.

The 'comic', I believe is his trade, rang in to the live phone-in programme to complain that his club's name was being muddied by Hale following the 1-1 draw at Albion on Wednesday night.

"I just thought they went beyond the pale with some comments that bordered on character assassination," he explained. "I thought they were very harsh - saying things like you'd never want Tony Pulis to be your manager.

"They were saying there was only one team there and Stoke were trying to waste time from the start. But we don't have West Brom's money and Tony is doing a fantastic job."

Hale listened, gave as good as he got and then promptly cut Hancock off in his prime.

"They think it's all over!", he said...."It is now!"

Hale 1 Hancock 0

I do remember Hancock using a rather X-rated line on ITV last season to describe how Albion's players allegedly wanted to leave the club. If you dish it out, you take it....

His pal is Frank Skinner who was on stage in Basingstoke on Wednesday night, but was being kept abreast of happenings at The Hawthorns by Albion's press officer John Simpson via a series of text messages.

Skinner lit up the stage at Watford recently when he came on saying: "Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou..... for buying Nathan Ellington. Had I known you were interested I'd have driven him here myself!"

Skinner 1 Hancock 0 Now that's comedy.

And for the record, Stoke WERE as ugly as Olive from 'On the Buses'. I hear their right back is still stalling on the touchlines, waiting to take a throw-in.

David O'Geary:

Sorry, Nick Hancock was right. And he's funnier than Frank Skinner. In fact, Don Maclean is funnier than Frank Skinner. And Bernie Clifton is funnier than Don Maclean. Daz Hale is a Wolves fans isn't he? So what would he know anyway? Baggie Bill, Albion should be 15 points clear with all the money they've got. Just because Stoke cut their cloth accordingly and are competitive, why have a pop at them? If Stoke play Albion at Wembley in the play off final, I think we all know who will win it. Wait until the dark nights draw in and the pitches get heavy, Albion's pretty boys won't fancy it.

Greg Jonnery:

I agree with Hale.
Stoke are shocking.
Fair enough if they want to play the Tony Pulis way kicking lumps out anything that moves, smacking the long ball forward and relying on their 7ft 6in frontmen to do the business then fair enough. That's their beef.
But if so they have to expect a bit of criticism bearing in mind the punters fork out hard-earned cash to try and be ENTERTAINED.
Gizze job by the way....
