Mowbray: One year on

Tony Mowbray celebrates his first anniversary at the club today but life at The Hawthorns could have been so different...

Mowbray was one of three candidates shortlisted for the job and got voted in unanimously by the Albion board.

The other two candidates? Now that would be telling.

But let's just say one of them could now be spending next summer at the European Championships if his side win their final qualifying game. Mind you they'll have to beat the very best to do so.

And the other manager can be found across the border in the Principality (no, it's not John Toshack) and is fairly well known to West Midlands.

But that's enough cryptic trivia.

It was business as usual at Albion's AGM on Monday after the 'highly-charged' meeting we were all predicting turned into a damp squib. Jeremy Peace might have been expecting to be dragged over the hot stuff over his share offer and plans for the future, but by the end of the Q and A session he was answering questions about the Liquidator and the PA system.

And, contrary to what you might have read elsewhere, let's just get one thing straight - the press were not banned from the meeting and never were at any point.

Finally, did you know Tony Mowbray was born on November 22, 1963, the day that JFK was assasinated? Still, at least Mrs Mowbray had an alibi...

Maul Pace:

So Albion could have had Phil Scolari or Max Boyce as manager instead of Dr Football could they? Hmm..... didn't think Scolari would fit in with the philosophy of pretty triangles first, never mind about results
