Hello sport

THE nation's eyes will be on Birmingham in December when the BBC Sports Personality of the Year event heads back to the NEC.

It is a major feather in this city's cap that we have been chosen to host these prestigious awards – especially in a year when the English rugby team and racing driver Lewis Hamilton have achieved so much.

Let's give 'em all a big Brummie welcome!

Kin Swin-Ford:

A big Brummy welcome? As in a 10 minute moan followed by 20 minutes of grizzling about how 'grrrrayt' Villa used to be in 1982?

Presumably the brummys will be importing the electricity from somewhere else?

Paddy McGinty's Goat:

Oh yes, those big Brummie welcomes...sitting on a stretch of road going nowhere or sitting on a train just outside Wolverhampton because New Street's over-capacity.

Bet the stars can't wait...
