Heart of gold

BIG-hearted Maisie Gabriel-Allison, who has spent nearly two decades providing love and comfort to other people's children, is a remarkable woman.

Maisie opens her Weoley Castle home to offer respite care at weekends and evenings to youngsters with special needs.

The difference she makes to lives cannot be calculated.

We are delighted to today name Maisie as our latest Local Hero, a scheme we run with the Pallasades to recognise apparently ordinary people who do extraordinary things.

Maisie is such a woman and we send her our wholehearted congratulations and thanks.

This city would be a poorer place without such folk.
