Famous but human

WE make snap judgments on the wannabe celebrities who strut their stuff on television programmes such as The X Factor.

Yet we seldom see behind the glitzy image and manufactured personalities that they, as performers, adopt.

No doubt the loud-mouthed behaviour of X Factor finalist Kimberley Southwick has irritated many viewers.

Even judge Simon Cowell was moved to described the 19-year-old Tamworth girl as "the most annoying contestant ever".

Perhaps those views will be revised, however, by today's revelation that Kimberley spent years nursing her terminally ill brother Liam as he battled against a rare lung disease.

Liam died her arms four years ago aged just 17.

She is dedicating her performances to the lad to whom she showed such tenderness and dedication.

Here is a reminder that showbiz is just that – showbiz.

Behind the make-up and apparent confidence stand ordinary people who face the same sorts of problems as the rest of us.

Celebrities are venerated or condemned. Perhaps we would do better simply to recognise them for what they are – folk with a particular talent.

We wish Kimberley every success as she pursues her dream and remembers a dearly loved brother.

Hi guys, all man's situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future

Hi there, thanks for a fantastic blog, a truly great start for the 2010, keep up the excellent work, Tonia.

Hello there, cheers for the great blog, a truly great opening to the new year, keep up the excellent work, Louise.

Being shorter is not a crime, if everyone else around you is taller, it is obvious you would wish to look taller too.

Being small is no crime, if everybody else around you is taller, it is obvious you would like to to seem taller also.

Hello there, great post, I really enjoyed reading it. the post gave me the kick to attempt my own article, please check out my post by clicking my name at the top of this article, cheers

Thanks for the inspiration, your blog looks excellent! I have been having trouble keeping up with American Idol this year but this definitely helped me a little!

Boy, Following, AI all these seasons, not quite sure, what to say about this years singers

I started smoking when I was really young. It was the most terrible wrong move I've made. Now 30 years down the road and I have heart disease. I have learned stopping is very hard. I tried all of the quit smoking aids but not one did the trick. Then I heard about the electronic cigarette. The e-cig uses a nicotine liquid that holds simply nicotine. No toxic substances at all. They have literally saved my life. No longer breathing in smelly smoke feels stupendous!

Even though the leather is nearly new and the heels are barely worn, we need a new pair of shoes! So we reach for the mouse and spend hours online searching our favourite shoe store for this seasons shoes.

It is also very essential to give importance to the comfort factor. You need to make it sure that the shoe you are wearing us comfortable and is made of good quality materials. You can try it before you actually buy it. Size is another important issue. Select the right size. Otherwise, you may face problem in walking.

You can find shoes made from an assortment of materials and fabrics. You will be able to find something that will perfectly co-ordinate with your outfits.

Then there are the fashion sandals. These are purchased for a specific purpose. You've got an outfit in mind when you purchase these and you know you're going to look fantastic!

Know when to leave them home or look for a classier pair is key to pulling of this look. Wedges are comfortable but they are still heels. If you're planning on staying on you're feet all day or are going to be physically active, you may want to consider swapping them out for more practical footwear.

We love the simplicity of sandals. How easy it is to put them on, wear them around, and take them off. Basically it represents a no-frills kind of shoe and we really like how they are so fuss-free and simple that way.

This season, wedges are all the rage and thats a good thing. These sassy sandals are great for everything from special occasions to a night out on the town. While those sexy stilettos were fun and took you everywhere you needed to go, this is the summer of the wedge and it couldn't be better.

For the women who are averse to wearing roman sandals because they find them a little masculine for their taste, or simply because they are scared the shoe type will make them look short, a good alternative is to purchase strapped thong sandals.
