Whoops of delight from Lancashire's supporters greet the announcement that Lancashire's win has lifted them top of the table.
Defeat arrived in a appropriately scruffy way - four byes as Ambrose failed to gather a quicker ball from Botha.
Lancashire 71 for 1, won by nine wickets. The Bears also reap a point-deduction, still being calculated by the scorers.

Thanks for guiding us through this period of darkness with good humour. I hope the blog will return (god willing) next season.....

As the double drop beckons inexorably, I'd like to highlight the following ironic quotes/buzzwords used by Bears senior management in the past year -
* That the Bears have made "Demonstrable progress"
* We were to witness "Elite sport" at Edgbaston
Let's not forget the signs all around Edgbaston that state "Experience excellence". Now, the only excellence I've experienced there all season is my fellow spectators gallows humour and the rather powerful automatic hand dryer in the gents around the back of the RES Wyatt stand.

There's a decent hand-dryer at the back of the RES Wyatt!!!??
I've been missing out. This season I think i have only used hand-dryers in the back of the priory stand and in the member's section. I clearly haven't been experiencing as much excellence as I could have been. I've only myself to blame.

Yes it's a beast, I think it was fashioned from a jet engine. The label above the air outlet reads, "Feel the power!". Who needs Alton Towers?

the hand driers need to be powerful. what with all the wringing of hands going on down there.
seriously some of the taps are quite beastly also, you go in to wash your hands and get a shower for free sometimes!
