IN A world that has grown increasingly unfazed by images of violence, today's pictures showing the murder of Lozells shopkeeper Mohammed Basharat retain a chilling power.
Few readers will be unmoved by the photographs we publish showing the killer, sinister a dark hood, striding into the store and cold-heartedly opening fire with a sawn-off shotgun. Some may be offended.
But we make no apologies.
We hope that these images will jog memories and stir consciences so that someone somewhere will provide the information that will help detective snare the assassin who six months ago cut short the life of Mr Basharat, a popular father-of-two.
It is crucial that this maniac is taken off the streets and pays the penalty for his vicious crime.
If you can help police track him down, phone 0845 113 5000 or 0800 555111. Now.
Make our city safer - and give Mr Basharat's family the justice they need and deserve.

I deeply feel for Mohammed Basharat's family. He was a great man and i can not believe the absolutely inhumane and cruel person who shot him. I think it is an absolutely cowardly attack on a family man who was well known and was a wonderful person. I hope that anyone who has any information on the cold-hearted murderer who brutally shot Mr.Basharat comes forward because a person who is as vile as that shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets as a free man. It is such a shame that in this day and age good community people like Basharat aren't allowed to live. I do no see the motive behind this cowardly attack because Basharat was a friendly person and got along with many memebers of his community. I sincerely hope that Mr. Basharat and his family get justice for this disgusting crime, as they deeply deserve it.
