Not next to schools

THE debate over the rights and wrongs of prostitution continues to rage.

Pragmatists say that it will always exist and is better controlled than driven underground. Others take a sterner stance, arguing that it is immoral, exploitative and damaging.

But one thing is certain: prostitution cannot be allowed to operate just yards from a school and next to the homes of ordinary, decent people.

That is what happened in Harvey Road, Yardley, until a swoop by police, alerted by a concerned neighbour.

If there is a place for such businesses in Birmingham, it is certainly not in suburban homes in the view of prying young eyes.

John:

As for decent people who live near these brothels, it is probably them who visit such establishments. People like this should further into their own wrong doings before getting on their high horse about brothels in areas where (ordinary) people live.
