HOW reassuring that YOUR voices are finally being heard in the corridors of power at Birmingham Council House.
The council's chief legal officer Mirza Ahmad is busily preparing for a referendum next May on whether the city should have an elected mayor.
If voters favoured an elected mayor, he has even decided the exact date in October 2008 when an election would take place.
Thousands of ordinary Brummies have already signed our petition demanding that ordinary people should be given the chance to say how they want this city to be run.
It is good to know that when we reach the 36,249 names that are needed to trigger a vote, the council will be prepared thanks to the efforts of Mr Ahmad and his team.
And it is not only the council's legal officers who are taking notice.
Blues' managing director Karren Brady and MPs John Hemming and Khalid Mahmood have already declared their intention to stand if people vote in favour of having an elected mayor.
Between us, we are making history because this issue will help determine how Birmingham goes forward for generations to come.
Keep the signatures coming. The petition form is on Page 5.
