Heading for a crisis?

HEAD teachers can be crucial figures, giving their schools a sense of purpose, inspiring staff and pupils to reach great heights, creating a disciplined but friendly climate in which youngsters can thrive.

So be concerned by today's revelation that almost half of Birmingham's heads are to retire within the next two years: it means that many schools will have a new man or woman in charge very soon and, unless the right people are appointed, that could be disastrous.

That so many senior figures will reach the end of their careers at the same time is no-one's fault. It is a blip beyond the control of the city council's education department.

But what would be unforgivable would be for the council not to be prepared for the situation.

The best teachers must be identified, encouraged to seek promotion and thoroughly trained to take over the reins of power.

This retirement crisis creates enormous opportunities as well as dangers.

Birmingham's education chiefs must work it their advantage.

Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds also... I am placing a link on my site to yours... what "anchor text" would you like me to use?

Rather great post, genuinely useful information. Never considered I'd obtain the facts I need right here. I have been scouring all around the internet for some time now and had been starting to get disappointed. Thankfully, I came across your page and received exactly what I was browsing for.

I really like the fresh perpective you did on the issue. Really was not expecting that when I started off studying. Your concepts were easy to understand that I wondered why I never looked at it before. Glad to know that there's an individual out there that definitely understands what he's discussing. Great job
