HOW heartening to see today's pictures of youngsters enjoying exercise in the Birmingham sunshine.
Too often our kids are tucked away indoors - glued to the television screen, twitching over computer games or frantically texting their friends.
It is understandable that many parents are reluctant to allow their children the sort of freedom enjoyed by previous generations who were allowed to roam far and wide: roads are now far busier and the fear of crime more heightened.
But zapping aliens on a flickering screen is no substitute for the rough and tumble of proper exercise.
