ALL together now in a karaoke style! "In the jungle, the concrete jungle, the Lyon roared last night".
Under the glare of floodlights a new hero made his mark at the Perry Barr home of the Brummies.
Jason Lyons was in inspirational form last night as he bagged 15 points helped the Brummies to a maiden victory in the Premier Trophy against Stoke.
The Lyon King is now the pride of Birmingham after smashing the track record with a lap time of 59.1 seconds.
Stoke were left pottering around for points as the Brummies team did its fans proud by winning 56-34.
To win the trophy the Brummies have to make Perry Barr a hard place to visit and last night the foundations were laid for a formidable fortress.
I admit I was nervous and to be truthful I thought we might get hammered because as in anything the new boys are always up against it.
However, the buzz of seeing the Brummies race around the track and taking chequered flag after chequered flag has made me confident the Brummies will do their city proud over the coming months.
Aidan Collins and Ben Powell also gave the crowd something to cheer about with some all-action racing.
And of course it would not be speedway without a high-speed crash with the excellent Ulrich Ostergaard shedding a chain and spinning off taking Brent 'The Afterburner' Werner with him.
There is no doubt Speedway is a great spectator sport and the crowd of just under 2,000 cheered their boys home race after race.
After only two meetings I'm liking the camaraderie amongst the fans.
OK the Brummies colours of yellow and red might the the same colour scheme as spotty teenager's face but they are unmistakable in the world of speedway so we should be proud of them.
And I had no hesitation giving the England game a miss to watch the speedway.
Millionaire pampered fools huffing and puffing against plumbers and teachers or daredevil riders who risk their neck every time they start the engine?
No contest give me the Brummies any day!
Now, where's the karaoke...
